At my last baby shower we had a poster hanging on the wall as everyone entered. There was a line down the middle one side was for messages to momma and the other side was messages to baby. My now twenty-two months loves to sit and look at who was at his shower and read what they wrote to him. I think it is nice because sometimes showers can get crazy and everyone doesn’t always get a chance to say what they want and you can always remember who was there.

I have the PERFECT baby shower idea. I am throwing my best friend a shower in 2 weeks and in the invitations we included a piece of paper instructing everyone to write a letter to the mom-to-be sending her warm wishes, hopes, and dreams. At the shower myself and her mother are going to secretly collect all of the letters without her knowledge and pass them off to her husband. I think the Happy Mama Birth Bag is the perfect bag for her to take to the hospital and so I plan to get that for her as a gift. The day that she goes into labor I have instructed her husband to hide the letters in her hospital bag and take them out when they get to the hospital while she’s waiting to give birth…that way she feels like she has everyone there with her to comfort her during the experience, and she’ll have something to read to pass the time.

Most baby showers are not only to celebrate the new arrival and all the work the mom has done, but for all the “stuff”. When you’re working on number 3+, you really only need diapers and wipes! So, what I do is a Pampered Baby Shower. The mom’s friends and family come together to celebrate and give their time in lieu of gifts. We take the time and make freezer meals for when the baby is brought home. Everything from their favorite meatloaf that is cooked all the way and sliced into single serving pieces to casseroles waiting to be popped into the oven. Not only is it a great way to party and celebrate, but the family can easily jump in when the baby comes home and Mom can concentrate on healing and taking care of herself and the new child.
